The Minister of Immigration and Asylum, Notis Mitarakis said in an interview with ERT, that so far there has been a substantial decongestion in the accommodation structures for refugees and migrants in the North Aegean islands by 38%, while there is a reduction in flows by 90% compared to 2019.

The minister added that deportations and relocations are increasing, with the aim of closing reception centers, while at the same time the transformation of open structures into closed and organized ones, has started in February, in Mytilene and Chios.

Also, Mr. Mitarakis announced that the number of asylum seekers is steadily decreasing, which is for a period of three years.
