Following the diagnosis of the first case of coronavirus in Thessaloniki in a 38-year-old woman who had recently returned from northern Italy, the Health Ministry announced in a statement that the main objective now is to prevent the spread of the virus.

To this end, the people the patient came into contact the past few days after her return from Italy, are being tracked down. These people are alerted, informed, and monitored so that if they show symptoms they will be diagnosed quickly. In addition, the elementary school where the patient’s child goes to, will remain closed today for precaution and will be disinfected. A campaign to properly inform the public is also underway.

The Ministry of Health has released videos with guidelines for the coronavirus and calls on citizens who have returned from affected areas to monitor their health for the next few days and, if symptoms persist, to report to their doctor or the National Public Health Agency in order for the necessary actions to be taken.
