The Prespes Agreement, the regional developments, migration, energy, Eurozone reform and the next multiannual financial framework of the European Union, were at the heart of the 5th South EU Summit in Nicosia, Cyprus.

The ultimate goal remains the security and prosperity of our citizens and the creation of growth prospects for all the peoples of Europe, said the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Anastasiades, at the joint press conference of the leaders of the seven countries that took part in the Summit.

On the issue of immigration, Mr. Anastasiades said that all leaders agreed unanimously that there is a need for collective effort, unity and solidarity, while on the subject of energy security it was stressed that the aim is for the Mediterranean to become an alternative corridor for energy transport.

For his part, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras sent a message of unity saying that the countries of Southern Europe, are defending the basic European principles and international law.
