The plenary debate on the constitutional revision by roll-call vote, will be concluded today. In the context of the constitutional revision debate, Tsipras and Mitsotakis were strongly disagreed regarding the election of the President of the Republic, the establishment of private universities and the protection of the environment.

Alexis Tsipras clarified that SYRIZA will not play around with the revision of the Constitution, because it is the top institutional process of parliamentary democracy and stressed that he would support the re-election of the current President of the Republic, Prokopios Pavlopoulos. He also stressed the fact that the government will exhaust its four-year mandate and told the leader of the main opposition to be vigilant regarding his party’s far-right wing.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis called for the joint approval of the revision of the articles on Education and Environment, as well as for the non-dissolution of the Parliament due to the election of the President of the Republic.
