The Greek satellite Hellas Sat 4 was launched successfully on Tuesday evening (Greek time) from French Guiana, in order to take up the orbital position of Greece and Cyprus.

“The launch of Hellas Sat 4 will increase our capabilities for autonomous satellite communications, defense and security, but will also increase the possibilities for ERT,” said the Digital Policy, Telecommunications and Media Minister Nikos Pappas, following the launch of the satellite, while stressing that it will contribute to the development of the Greek economy.

“With the launch of the Hellas Sat 4 satellite, Greece has a strong position on the international space map by providing high-level services where required. It will provide the Greek Armed Forces with absolutely reliable satellite communications,” said the Minister of National Defense, Evangelos Apostolakis.
