The data on the course of the coronavirus pandemic in Greece are still worrying. The National Public Health Organization (EODY) announced 233 new cases in the country on Wednesday, of which 2,141 (19.9%) are considered related to travel from abroad and 4,779 (44.4%) are related to an already known case.
Thirty-eight patients with a median age of 68 years, are intubated and 94.7% of them having an underlying health issue or are over 70 years old.
154 patients have been discharged from the ICU. Two more people have lost their lives due to Covid-19, bringing the total number of victims, to 273.
The median age of the deceased patients was 78 years and 96.0% of them had an underlying health issue and / or were 70 years and older. Meanwhile, the National Blood Donation Center (EKEA) announced the temporary suspension of coronavirus testing until September 8, due to increased demand, which caused a temporary shortage of reagents.
It is noted that EKEA examines about 1,000 of the 13,000 molecular control tests performed daily on average in the country.
