Greece condemns Turkey’s unilateral unlawful actions in Cyprus’ EEZ in the most absolute way, said Greek Foreign Minister Yorgos Katrougalos during a meeting he had with his Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Cavusoglu in Helsinki. After the meeting, Mr Koutrougalos said that “the need to reduce the tension in the Aegean and stop the violations in our airspace” were discussed.
“In this context, it has been agreed to trigger talks between military units for confidence-building measures. And we reaffirmed the need to re-activate those units who are having a meeting in Athens on Monday”, said Mr. Katrougalos.
“The main purpose of the meeting was to de-escalate the tension in the Aegean so as not to cause an accident, which is an unwanted possibility for both countries,” concluded the Greek Foreign Minister.
