“November 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, reminds us of the daily struggle we are obliged to fight against verbal, psychological, physical and sexual abuse, by supporting the victims that found the strength and courage to speak up about the abuse they have suffered, and by encouraging women that are experiencing similar suffering to break their silence,” Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said on the occasion of the day.

“At a time when Europe is in economic crisis and the extreme right is on the rise, bringing authoritarianism, fascism, sexism and patriarchal values to the forefront, we must be vigilant in the protection of women’s rights,” he added.
