United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi will visit Greece from 23 to 25 August.

The aim of the visit is to assess the humanitarian needs of refugees and migrants, and how can the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees further contribute to the humanitarian response as part of its support to the Greek authorities.

Mr. Grandi will meet with the President of the Republic P. Pavlopoulos, Prime Minister A. Tsipras and members of the Cabinet.

He will also meet refugees and asylum seekers in temporary refugee hosting areas in Attica and Central Macedonia, as well as representatives of local authorities and representatives of civil society.

Concluding his visit the High Commissioner will hold a press conference on Thursday, 25 August.

High Commissioner will be accompanied by the Director of the European office of UNHCR and Regional Coordinator for Refugee Crisis, Mr. Vincent Cochetel, and Ms. Melissa Fleming, Head of Communication and chief spokesperson for the High Commissioner.
