Vicky Kalogera, the Greek astrophysicist and professor at the University of Northwestern Illinois, was awarded the Dannie N. Heineman Award for Astrophysics in 2018.

The prize is awarded by the American Institute of Physics and the American Astronomical Society to honor Kalogera’s work on black holes, neutron stars and white dwarfs.

“It’s a great honor for me to win the Heineman Award,” she said. Kalogera continues to contribute significantly to the research for gravitational waves from black holes and neutron stars.
