The migration policy ministry is preparing a series of developmental programmes for the villages surrounding the Moria hotspot on Lesvos, Migration Policy Minister Dimitris Vitsas revealed in an interview with ERT1 on Saturday.

He noted that the first round of compensation in Moria had been distributed "and we are now beginning the procedure for the second round, and the same for Halkios on Chios."

He pointed out that 24,000 people had been transferred from the islands to the mainland since the start of the year and said that conditions at reception centres throughout the country were improving.

Meanwhile, he added, the government was continuing to push for a revision of the Dublin Treaty - a Dublin IV - in Europe.
